To locate books at PJC and other Florida Community College libraries, click on Find Books at the top of the Library homepage. Click on Browse Lists and enter the person's last name, then first name; for example, walker alice. In the results list look for subheadings such as Biography, Interviews, Diaries, etc. Also check the titles listed under the person's name only (with no subheadings). Alternately, click on the Keyword Search button at the top of the catalog, select Subject and enter the person's name.
The catalog returns both print and ebooks. To read ebooks, click on the eResources link and log in. See login instructions below under Articles.
The catalog also allows users to search all 3 PJC campus libraries, as well as the collections of all 28 Florida community colleges. Books not located at the home campus or college can be requested by clicking on the location of the book, then using the Request function. For graphic instructions on using the catalog and the Request feature, see http://library.pjc.edu/pdf/find_books.pdf. Login is required to request books. See login instructions below.
To access the following databases, click on the Find Articles link at the top of the Library homepage. Login is automatic from the Library computers. To log in from remote computers: 1) select Pensacola Junior college from the drop down menu; 2) type the 14-digit PJC photo ID number in the Borrower ID box; 3) type the last four digits of your Social Security number into the PIN box. Before logging in, be sure to activate the barcode number on your ID card by contacting the Library at 484-2002 or by stopping by the Circulation Desk in the Library. Once logged in, click on the Alphabetical link at the top of the page, then on one of the following resources.
Literature Resources from Gale
Provides literary criticism, biographies, topic & work overviews, reviews & news, and more. For a more focused search, click on Person-By or About. Keyword search is more expansive. For citing help, click on Citation Tools on the right. Select appropriate format, click Save, then Open or Save.
Literary Reference Center
Check list allows searching by biography, literary criticism, plot summaries, interviews, reviews and more. For citing help, email both .pdf and .html text to self, or, use print function to print .html text/citation and .pdf citation.
Biography Resource Center
Provides biographical information, organized by tabs. Users may search by name, birth date, nationality, ethnicity, occupation, or other criteria. Citing help provided at the bottom of each page.
Academic Search Complete
Multidisciplinary source of articles from magazines and scholarly (peer reviewed) journals. Includes abstracts (summaries) of most articles. Advanced search allows for a search by subject. To limit to full-text articles only, and or scholarly (peer reviewed) journals, check the appropriate box(es). For citing help, click on the yellow page icon at the top of each record.
