The Institute on World War II and the Human Experience  Located at Florida State University, this institute focuses on preserving the memories and artifacts of the men and women who served in World War II.

Iwo Jima The battle, photographs, film clips, information about books, movies, and other records and memorials of the battle.

Pacific Naval Battles in World War II Contains synopses, tabular displays, charts, and maps relating to some of the important and interesting battles.

West Point Atlas: World War II: The Pacific Theater Strategic and historical maps covering all aspects of World War II in the Pacific, presented by the United States Military Academy at West Point and Military.com.

World War II in the Pacific Begins by explaining how the end of World War I led to World War II. Includes details about Pearl Harbor, the major Pacific battles, principal military figures, ships, etc.

The King Center  Located in Atlanta’s Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, The King Center’s library and archives are dedicated to educating people about Dr. King’s life, work, and philosophy of non-violent conflict resolution and social change.

North American Slave Narratives  Narratives of fugitive and former slaves published before 1920 in broadsides, pamphlets, or books.

Biography.com  The Web site of The Biography Channel and of the documentary series, Biography, on the A&E network. Includes short biographies of famous people, e.g., actors and actresses, political and historical figures, etc.

Colonial Hall: Biographies of America's Founding Fathers  Biographies of 103 of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution.

Congressional Biographical Directory  For each Senator or Representative from 1774 to the present day, this site contains brief biographical information plus a listing of research collections and a bibliography.

Florida Biography Index  This Web site contains references to biographical information on notable Floridians in the books, periodicals, vertical files, newspapers, and maps of the Florida Collection of the State Library of Florida.  Although some of the resources are rare, others may be found in local libraries.  

Lives, the Biography Resource  The largest Internet guide to biographies of people who have died.

Writing History Essays

Citing and Research Web Links  PJC’s citation guides include both MLA and APA styles and show how to cite web pages, print sources, and journal articles.
