INDEXES TO ARTICLES

ELECTRONIC RESOURCES
To access the following databases, click on the Electronic Resources link at the top of the LRC homepage <lrc.pjc.edu>.  Login is automatic from the LRC computers.  From remote computers, it is necessary to login by: 1)selecting Pensacola Junior College from the drop down menu; 2) typing the 14-digit PJC photo ID number in the Borrower ID box; 3) typing the last four digits of your Social Security number into the PIN box.  Click on Alpha tutorial to select the database of your choice.

ERIC
The largest database of educational literature in the world, ERIC contains over 1 million abstracts of articles pertaining to the field of education. Resources are divided into two groups: Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE), which indexes articles in journals; and Resources in Education (RIE), which indexes non-journal material available on microfiche. The PJC LRC may have some of the journals, but will have none of the articles on microfiche. Journal articles not available in the LRC collection may be requested through Interlibrary Loan. Microfiche documents are available at the University of West Florida’s John C. Pace Library.

To better use the ERIC search features use the Advanced Search.  You may search several fields at once (keyword, author, title, etc.)  You may also select the year(s) and document type (RIE or CIJE).  Do not limit availability to PJC or to full text, since your results will be sharply reduced.  If you choose a CIJE article that is not available at PJC, click on Borrow this item from another library for Interlibrary Loan services.  RIE documents are available at UWF.

Academic Search Premier
Offers full-text articles from more than 3,000 scholarly and academic journals, and abstracting and indexing from more than 4,000 journals dating back to 1984.  You may limit your search to peer-reviewed journals by clicking the Peer Reviewed box from any search screen.

General Reference Center Gold
Indexes articles in over 2,500 professional and general interest titles, almost 2,000 full text, back to 1980.  You may limit to full text; many journals are peer-reviewed.  Keyword searching yields the best results.
