BOOKS
To locate books at PJC and other Florida
Community College libraries, click on Find Books at the top of the library
homepage. For books about food and
culinary arts, use Subject and enter Cookery,
name of cuisine (for example, Cookery, French). A Subject search by name of
country could also yield books of interest. Alternately, click on Browse Lists and enter Cookery (as a subject) to browse through
subjects of interest. Both print and ebooks are
noted in the catalog.
Books available at the Warrington and
Milton campuses, and those available at other Florida community colleges, can
be sent to the Pensacola campus by clicking on the location of the book and
using the Request option. Login is required to request books. For graphic

Electronic encyclopedias of interest are
listed under EBooks on the left of the library’s homepage. Click on Virtual Reference Library eBooks. Login
is required. After login, a window opens with a list of subjects. Click on Nation & World to see the two titles
that might be of interest. Ebooks contain the text,
tables of contents and indexes.
LIBRARY ONLINE ARTICLE
SOURCES
To access the
library’s online article sources, click on the Find Articles on
the library homepage. Select the appropriate database. Login is automatic from
the library computers. To log in from remote computers, select
Pensacola Junior College from the drop-down menu; type the 14-digit PJC photo
ID barcode number in the Borrower ID
box; type the last four digits of your Social Security number into the PIN
box.
General OneFile
An
excellent source of articles from a variety of print magazines, journals and
newswires.
To find information on a particular country, use the Browse Subjects link in
the upper left. Enter the name of the country in the search box, then click on
the + sign below the country name. This will open up a list of subheadings. The
Food and Nutrition subheading will
present articles that might be of interest.
It is also possible
to search this index by keywords. From the initial search box, enter search
terms, (for example, peru
music). To limit to full-text articles only, check the box under Limit Results.
Academic Search
Complete
Another
source of articles from print magazines and scholarly (peer reviewed) journals. Includes abstracts (summaries) of most articles. To locate
articles about food and culinary arts, use the Advanced Search link.
Enter Cookery, name of cuisine (for
example, Cookery, Peruvian) in the first box and drop down the right hand menu so that SU Subject Terms appears. Click Search. Limit results using the
check boxes to the right and left of hits screen.
It is also
possible to search this index by keywords. From the initial search box, enter
search terms. To limit to full-text articles only, check the box under Limit Your
Results.

Google Search Hint
The search engine allows you to search for words in the title of a Web page. To do so, click on Advanced Search, to the right of the search box. On the advanced screen, enter search words (for instance, peru music) in the first box. Scroll down. You may change the number of results from the default of 10, to more. Toward the bottom of the page, at Date, usage rights, numeric range and more, click the plus sign (+). At Where your keyword show up, drop the menu down and click on: in the title of page. Another option is the change the Region dropdown menu to the name of the country.
